Singer-songwriter Paul Cauthen has released an old-timey video for his latest single, “Holy Ghost Fire.”
The clip, which draws inspiration from film Westerns, opens with a solemn monologue about fighting against the forces of “darkness” and “wickedness.” It cuts to the country singer, who portrays a Bible-thumping preacher. However, he soon who falls for a lady working at a brothel and eventually gives in to his desires.
“This song means a lot to me. One of my best friends and musical confidants Jason Burt threw this bad boy my way,” Cauthen said in a press release. “I kind of liked it… I kind of hated it. Then we reworked it. Wrote another verse. Massaged it. All of a sudden you’re sitting on that ‘Holy Ghost Fire.’”
“Holy Ghost Fire” is a track from Cauthen’s forthcoming sophomore album, Room 41. The record is due out September 6 via Lightning Rod/Velvet Rose Records.
