Orville Peck pays tribute to Kenny Rogers

Peck sang Rogers’ iconic “Islands in the Stream” during a livestream.

Country singer Orville Peck recently paid tribute to the late Kenny Rogers during a surprise livestream performance from his home on Monday.

During his virtual concert, Peck sang Rogers’ iconic 1983 duet with Dolly Parton, “Islands in the Stream.” Rogers passed away on March 20 from natural causes.

“I wanted to do a Kenny song and this is one of my all-time favorite country duets,” Peck told fans, before belting out a somber rendition of the country hit.

Peck’s special livestream also commemorated the one-year anniversary of his debut record, Pony. The event included performances of songs “Hope to Die,” “Dead of Night,” “Turn to Hate” and more.

In the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, Peck took the opportunity to encourage fans to unite through the gift of music during this difficult time. “And I think art and creativity and caring for one another and caring for ourselves and self-reflection—I think those things help us get through all of this,” he said.
