Nathaniel Rateliff & the Night Sweats perform “Hey Mama” on ‘Colbert’

From their latest album, ‘Tearing at the Seams.’

Nathaniel Rateliff and his band the Night Sweats have returned to The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, this time to perform their song, “Hey Mama.”

Rateliff and co were pitch perfect as they delivered a charismatic and soulful performance against a backdrop of vintage family photos. Dressed in a crisp denim outfit, the Colorado folk rocker led the pack on an acoustic guitar while the rest of the band backed him up on horns, keys and drums. “Hey mama, it’s me / Said you better wait child / Said you’ve been a long time running / Nothing ever good really is,” Rateliff crooned on the opening.

“Hey Mama” appears on the group’s critically acclaimed album, Tearing at the Seams, which arrived earlier in March on Stax Records.
