Morgan Evans releases “American”

The Australian’s found love in the United States.

Australian-born country music star Morgan Evans didn’t just find success in the US. He found the love of his life. And “American” tells his tale from being a young musician in Newcastle, Australia to living his dream in Nashville, Tennessee.

Most of his upbeat new single is devoted to his wife, fellow country music star Kelsea Ballerini. “She’s got hair as gold as Kansas wheat / Her body moves like Bourbon Street in New Orleans / So wild and free,” he sings over the opening bars of the song, as the lyrics find all sorts of clever ways to link his lady love to various places around the US.

By the time the chorus hits, all your down-home country gals will be wishing the lyrics were about them: “She’s American / Making my world better than it’s ever been / One part Norma Jean and one part Marilyn.”

“American” looks set to feature on Evans’ second album, which doesn’t have a release date yet. Stay tuned to see if a track called “Australian” makes the cut, too.
