Country crooner Mo Pitney has returned with a new introspective single, “Ain’t Lookin’ Back.”
According to the Illinois native, the song is about moving on with life and letting things go. “‘Ain’t Lookin’ Back’ on a lyrical level really spoke to me,” he explained in a special Behind the Song video. “I see it in two ways. One on a very personal level, things that I’ve gone through in my past that I want to leave behind me and move forward.”
“But then I also see in a way a musical journey, the things that I’ve held onto and music that I’ve made,” Pitney added. “I’m always going to be looking at the artist that shaped who I am. But I want to try to make something new and fresh, so I’m looking forward to those parts of my life too.”
Pitney broke into the country music scene in 2016 with his debut album Behind This Guitar, which included “Boy & A Girl Thing,” “Clean Up On Aisle Five,” and the nostalgic “Country.” Known for his neo-traditional style of country music, Pitney is set to release his as-yet-untitled sophomore record later this year.
