The American Idol reboot has been a smash—and it now has a winner. Twenty-year-old country-folk singer Maddie Poppe took home the crown and wasted no time in releasing her debut single.

“Going Going Gone” is the perfect blend of pop, folk and country, and should make more than the show’s audience to sit up and take notice. Set over a rolling, hand-clap-filled beat, the track tells the tale of a free-spirited wanderer. “And what am I waiting for? / Cause I don’t wanna wait no more,” she sings on the bridge. “And I’m the only soldier in this lonely world / And I don’t wanna fight myself no more.”

By the time Poppe launches into the chorus with a cry of “Maybe I was born to run,” it’s easy to see why she won the contest. Great things await ahead of her exciting career.
