Little Big Town bring “Summer Fever” to CMT Music Awards

The country quartet debut their new single live.

Little Big Town opened the annual CMT Music Awards with the world premiere of their latest single, “Summer Fever.” It’s a modern country jingle, which draws elements from pop and funk, making it the perfect earworm for the sun-kissed season.

“Over and over again on a blown-out speaker / Dance in the sand while the sun sets deeper,” vocalist Karen Fairchild belted out on the catchy chorus as she danced across the stage with band members Kimberly Schlapman, Jimi Westbrook and Philip Sweet.

Fairchild co-wrote the track alongside Cary Barlowe, Jesse Frasure and Sam Romans. “Jesse had a really cool track and we were talking about writing something fun for the summer,” the singer told CMT.com in an interview. “We want to see people dance [to] this song because it was so much fun to write.”
