Miranda Lambert has returned with “In His Arms,” the lead single from her upcoming project The Marfa Tapes.
The song features contributions from Lambert’s frequent collaborators Jack Ingram and Jon Randall, who’d previously worked on Lambert’s on “Tin Man” from 2016’s The Weight of These Wings and “Tequila Does” from her preceding album Wildcard. “In His Arms” proves to be yet another charming acoustic track from the trio, rendered simply with acoustic guitar and Lambert’s enthralling vocals.
The song was also paired with a beautiful music video. In the clip, Lambert and her songwriting partners perform the song on the back of a pick-up truck, against the dusty plains of Marfa, Texas.
The small Texan city has played host to Lambert a number of times over the years, serving as both a respite and a fount of creativity. Lambert’s new LP was mostly written and recorded outdoors amidst the scenic Marfa landscape.
“I’ll never forget pulling into Marfa that first night at 4am,” Lambert recalled in a statement. “The stars were like nothing I’d ever seen before, just this endless blanket hanging so low you could reach up and touch them.”
The Marfa Tapes arrives May 7. Watch the video for “In His Arms” below:
