Country artist Kelsea Ballerini has shared an ambivalent ode to Los Angeles in the form of “LA.”
Ballerini revealed in a string of tweets that “LA” came about as she was lying on a hotel bathroom floor, stuck without her guitar. Eventually Ballerini was reunited with her six-string a week later on the tour bus, and “LA” transformed from a poem into the song out today.
“It’s the most vulnerable thing I’ve publicly shared,” Ballerini tweeted about the new track. “It’s not cool to talk about not feeling cool, but it’s honest… And I’m really proud of every word of it.”
The new track is lifted from the Tennessee native’s upcoming third album Kelsea, following earlier singles “Homecoming Queen?” and “Club.” Kelsea is locked in for release on March 20 via Black River Entertainment, closing the three-year gap following Ballerini’s 2017 sophomore LP, Unapologetically.
