Jon Pardi continues to tease his forthcoming album, Heartache Medication, this time with a bittersweet love song, “Ain’t Always the Cowboy.”
On the song, the country singer flips the age-old tale of the lone cowboy, instead claiming that “it ain’t always the cowboy” who leaves. “Her hands wrapped up in mine, tears rollin’ out of her eyes / No messin’ with a made-up mind, sun settin’ on goodbye / Yeah, it’s hard to believe it wasn’t me tryin’ to leave this time,” Pardi sings over pedal steel and fiddle.
Heartache Medication is due out September 27. The record will also feature songs like the feel-good title track and “Don’t Blame it on Whiskey,” featuring Lauren Alaina.
