Brandy Clark has released a heartbreaking new song titled “I’ll Be the Sad Song.”

The country singer pours her heart out on the ballad, reminiscing on a lost love. “I’ll be the sad song, your good love gone bad song / The part of your heart that’s bittersweet / Couldn’t be your happy song but at least we had a song / So I’ll be the sad song you sing,” she croons on the chorus.

“I’ll Be the Sad Song” is the second preview of Clark’s forthcoming album, Your Life is a Record. “It’s a much more personal record, it sort of goes through love and loss and things in life,’ Clark told Think Country Music of her upcoming album. “It’s not all downers though! And there’s songs that speak to the political climate.”

Last year, she kicked off the record’s rollout with the song “Who You Thought I Was.” Your Life is a Record, which arrives March 6, will also feature collaborations with legendary songwriter Randy Newman and John Osborne of the Brothers Osborne.
