Here’s a wholesome country tune written to uplift spirits and call for change.
Aaron Lee Tasjan just released a new single, “If Not Now When”, that’s full of meaningful lyrics to find comfort in. Inspiration from the Beatles is clear in the bluesy song, with its chimey guitar melody and laid-back vocals.
Written last year in a time of political instability, the song’s optimistic lyrics highlight the importance of speaking out and doing kind works. The titular lyric, “If not now, when?” serves as a call to action against the cynicism against current events.
“[I’m] trying to say something that’s more of a comfort, and to try and be a cheerleader to the people who are on the front lines of all this stuff,” the Nashville-based singer said in an interview.
“If Not Now When” is a preview of Tasjan’s upcoming album, Karma for Cheap, out August 31.
