Country music newcomer Lily Rose has shared a video for her major label debut, “Villain.”
The clip arrived earlier this week alongside the news that Rose struck a deal with Big Loud and Republic Records. “Villain” first made the rounds on TikTok back in December via Rose’s independent label Back Block, however, quickly amassing the musician a dedicated base of followers.
Rose’s emotional single broaches the difficult subject of being profiled as the villain in a relationship by onlookers who don’t know the truth. “[At] first thought, you immediately go to the romantic relationship, or the detriment of a romantic relationship,” Rose explained to Variety. “But ‘Villain’ also has just been tapping into this vein of friendships ending, or even mother-daughter relationships that are not doing well. There are just so many different things.”
Elsewhere in the interview, Rose confirmed that while she is focusing on the next few singles, an album is the long-term goal.
