Let Jon Pardi prescribe ‘Heartache Medication’ for your sorrows

The crooner’s third studio album is out now.

Jon Pardi has released his much-anticipated third studio album, Heartache Medication.

The 14-track record features “Don’t Blame it on the Whiskey,” a duet with Lauren Alaina which was co-written by Eric Church and Miranda Lambert. The LP also features songwriting by country singers Rhett Akins and Jeffrey Steele on “Me and Jack” and closing track “Starlight,” respectively. Previously released tracks “Ain’t Always the Cowboy” and “Heartache Medication” are also included on the album.

Pardi steered clear of the “radio single culture” when recording Heartache Medication, instead opting for an album that “you could play and not have to skip through,” he told the Tennessean.

“I think the whole single thing comes from the heavy influence of artists doing the same thing,” he added. “If you’re going to buy two albums that are the same thing and you’re just going to get OK songs, I think that’s where the decline of albums comes in. There’s a lot of new country you can hear on Spotify, and it’s just one after the other.”

Heartache Medication is Pardi’s follow-up to his 2016 breakthrough sophomore LP, California Sunrise. Stream the record in its entirety here:
