Lee Ann Womack releases stop-motion “Hollywood” MV

A cut from her Grammy-nominated album, ‘The Lonely, the Lonesome & the Gone.’

Country singer Lee Ann Womack has released a moving, stop-motion video for “Hollywood,” a cut from her Grammy-nominated album, The Lonely, the Lonesome & the Gone.

The poignant clip follows the lives of two Barbie- and Ken-like dolls as they travel across California. As the visual progresses, the couple’s relationship slowly breaks down and they eventually go their separate ways.

“I’d always wanted to do a video like this, and it’s great to make a video you don’t have to be in because I don’t like making them,” Womack told Refinery29. “The whole thing was my idea. We found an animation guy to make it happen. I was semi-involved in the process. I made some of the clothes the doll wore, [like] the black dress with puffy sleeves and a pair of shorts with a white t-shirt. I literally was sitting in a hotel room making those little clothes.”
