Kelsea Ballerini wishes you “Better Luck Next Time”

The latest release from NBC’s ‘Songland.’

Kelsea Ballerini has returned with “Better Luck Next Time,” a new single as part of NBC’s music reality competition, Songland.

The country singer served as a guest judge on the show’s latest episode, which aired Tuesday night, and chose songwriter Darius Coleman’s “Better Luck Next Time” as the winning composition.

Ballerini experiments with a different sound on the mellow tune, blending her country twang with the song’s R&B vibe. “I got myself together, got a new attitude / hope that I see you never, I’m so over you / got myself together, you’re out of my mind / now all that I can say is, better luck next time,” she sings.

“I picked ‘Better Luck Next Time’ because it’s something that I definitely haven’t done before,” Ballerini told iHeartRadio. “Melodically, it feels challenging and interesting and intricate and those are all things that just made my [ears] perk up.”

“Better Luck Next Time” is the third release from Songland, following the Black Eyed Peas’ “Be Nice” and John Legend’s “We Need Love.” Ballerini previously collaborated with Thomas Rhett on “Center Point Road.”
