Kelsea Ballerini gets “Lost in Japan” for Spotify Singles

The singer gave the Shawn Mendes original a country pop spin.

Kelsea Ballerini’s cover of Shawn Mendes’ “Lost in Japan” is so good, you’ll want to put it on repeat all day and night.

The “Peter Pan” singer released the song as part of her two-track EP for Spotify Singles, and it’s a breezy country pop daydream. Romantic strings take the place of Mendes’ dramatic piano opening, and the funky bassline takes a backseat for a slight country twang, but Ballerini’s cover otherwise stays true to the original.

The Grammy-nominated singer also re-recorded “Miss Me More” for the EP, the latest single from her sophomore album, Unapologetically.
