Kacey Musgraves, Willie Nelson duet on “Rainbow Connection”

The duo performed live on the 2019 CMA Awards.

Kacey Musgraves and country legend Willie Nelson performed a touching rendition of Kermit the Frog’s 1979 hit “Rainbow Connection” at the 2019 Country Music Association Awards last night.

Nelson opened the performance with his trusty guitar, standing in front of a giant—you guessed it—rainbow. Musgraves joined in later during the second verse with her tender vocals, before the duo came together for the hook. “Someday we’ll find it, the rainbow connection / The lovers, the dreamers and me,” they sang.

Musgraves snagged two awards at the ceremony: Female Vocalist of the Year and Music Video of the Year for “Rainbow.” Other winners include Maren Morris (Album of the Year for Girl), and Lil Nas X and Billy Ray Cyrus (Musical Event of the Year for “Old Town Road”).
