Kacey Musgraves brings out Gloria Gaynor for “I Will Survive”

During the first show of Musgraves’ two-night stop at the Radio City Music Hall.

Kacey Musgraves took her love for disco to the next level on Tuesday night when she brought Gloria Gaynor onstage for a duet of the latter’s 1978 hit, “I Will Survive.”

On the first of two nights at the Radio City Music Hall, the country singer kicked off her cover of the disco classic solo. But she surprised audiences by inviting Gaynor, whom she introduced as the “queen of disco,” to join her. The duo delivered powerhouse vocals throughout their performance, before coming together to finish the song with gorgeous harmonies.

“Isn’t she wonderful?” Gaynor said to the crowd after their performance. “I recorded this song in 1975, 40 years ago, and I can’t tell you how pleased I am that Kacey is carrying on the tradition, helping you all to survive.”

Musgraves is currently on her Oh, What a World tour, in support of her Grammy-winning album Golden Hour. On the other hand, Gaynor dropped her latest album, Testimony, in June.
