Jimmie Allen honors collaborators and family on new ‘Bettie James’ EP

Featuring Tim McGraw, Brad Paisley, Darius Rucker, Nelly and more.

Jimmie Allen has released his new star-studded EP, Bettie James.

The Delaware artist announced the seven-track project earlier this month. It features the likes of Tim McGraw, Brad Paisley, Nelly, the Oak Ridge Boys, Mickey Guyton, Noah Cyrus and more. Notably, the song “Why Things Happen” features Charley Pride, Darius Rucker and Allen—marking a collaboration between Black country artists from three generations.

Bettie James combines the first names of Allen’s late grandmother and father, Bettie Snead and James Allen. “So much I could say about my grandmom and my dad. They both taught me so much about being myself, taking risks and having patience,” the country singer shared on Instagram. “I miss them both daily. Glad the world gets to hear my new project [inspired] by them.”

Prior to this, Allen teamed up with rising country singer Abby Anderson to cover Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper’s A Star is Born song, “Shallow.” In 2018, Allen released his Broken Bow Records debut album, Mercury Lane, which included the hits “Make Me Want to” and “Best Shot.”
