In the lead-up to his solo debut The Dream and the Dreamer, country singer-songwriter Jeremy Ivey has teamed up with his wife Margo Price on the song “Greyhound.”
The song starts out wistful with breezy finger-picked guitars and gently brushed snares. “Greyhound, oh greyhound, where’s my home today? A pillow and a blanket and send me on my way,” the couple harmonize.
“I remember the first time Jeremy played [“Greyhound”] for me… We were stranded in the city during an intense blizzard and he sang it to me on the street… It’s got a simple sort of brilliance to it that I love,” Price said in a press release. She is also producing Ivey’s upcoming solo LP.
Previously known as a musician who operates in the background, Ivey is finally ready to step into the spotlight with his debut solo effort. “I want to prove that you can be in your 40s and be at the peak of your creativity. Not a has-been, but as an ‘is-being,’” he said in a statement.
Ivey will release The Dream and the Dreamer via Anti-Records on September 13. Listen to “Greyhound” here:
