Ingrid Andress delivers her debut album, ‘Lady Like’

Country-pop storytelling at its finest.

Country newcomer Ingrid Andress has dropped her highly anticipated debut record, Lady Like.

On the eight-track album, Andress shines both as a singer and writer, with songs such as lead single, “More Heart Than Mine” and “The Stranger,” a wistful ballad on the beauty of first impressions. Meanwhile, “Both” questions the emotional repercussions of casual dating and the title track, on the other hand, is a straight-up empowerment anthem for women.

Lady Like, however, comes at a time of uncertainty with the COVID-19 pandemic keeping everyone at home and canceling concerts. Andress’ own support slot on Dan + Shay’s arena tour, which was slated to run from March to April, was axed due to the coronavirus.

“This was going to be my first time playing arenas, and I couldn’t wait to learn the ins and outs of tour life. I’d already played three sold-out shows with Dan + Shay when the tour got postponed to stop the spread of COVID-19,” Andress said in an interview with Elle.

“It’s all good, of course, because we don’t want the virus to spread. But it’s been a weird mindset, because I went from being like, ‘Okay, this is going to be my life the next few months,’ to basically the total opposite. In a matter of days, my life has been totally flipped upside down,” she added.

Andress took to social media when the album was released to share a heartfelt message about the album. “It makes me happy knowing all of you will be getting in your feels listening to this in the safety of your own homes,” she wrote. “I hope this album brings you all the love, angst, tears, and joy that it brought me while I was creating it with my friends.”
