Hunter Hayes gets personal in “Dear God” video

He’s asking the big questions.

Country pop singer-songwriter Hunter Hayes recently dropped a new single, “Dear God”—and the accompanying video finds the “Wanted” hitmaker way deep down in his feelings.

In the clip, the 26-year-old is put through a gauntlet of trials and tribulations. One moment he’s trapped in a glass box and in the next he’s climbing a steep hill. He even gets caught in a game of tug of war… with himself. Elsewhere, there are mellower moments when the country crooner sits under a spotlight, asking the big man upstairs a slew of honest questions.

“Why does my life have to hurt so much? / And why can’t I find any peace or love? / And why do I feel like I’m not enough? / Dear God, are you sure that you don’t mess up,” he laments on the powerful chorus.


“Dear God,” which was co-written by Andy Grammer and Dave Spencer, is as introspective and open as Hunter’s ever been. Check it out below:
