Brandi Carlile has covered Joni Mitchell’s “A Case of You” on The Late Show With Stephen Colbert.
Carlile sang some of “A Case of You” while in conversation with Colbert about her new memoir Broken Horses. When the host brought up the 2019 concert in which Carlile sang Mitchell’s legendary album Blue in its entirety, the musician didn’t need much convincing to pull out a guitar and flaunt her falsetto on “A Case of You.”
Carlile recently won a Grammy for Best Country Song for “Crowded Table” with her band The Highwomen at the 2021 awards show. She also covered “I Remember Everything” in honor of the late John Prine at the ceremony.
Carlile’s memoir Broken Horses, which is out now, takes the reader through the musician’s early struggles—from nearly losing her life to bacterial meningitis to the homophobia she faced as a gay teenager—and her successful musical journey.
