Gabby Barrett enlists Charlie Puth for “I Hope” remix

A fresh rendition of Barrett’s hit song.

Gabby Barret has teamed up with pop star Charlie Puth to release a remix of her hit song “I Hope.”

The rework features the singers swapping verses to tell the different sides of its narrative, before finally meeting on the third chorus.

“I hope she comes along and wrecks every one of your plans / I hope you spend your last dime to put a rock on her hand / I hope she’s wilder than your wildest dreams / She’s everything you’re ever gonna need / And then I hope she cheats, like you did on me,” the singers belt.

“I can’t wait for fans to hear this! With Charlie being on this track, it changes the perspective of the song,” Barrett said in a statement. “When I wrote it I was writing from a woman’s perspective, and so with him being on it, it kind of shows the men’s perspective too. That both sides get cheated on and it’s not just a one-sided thing.”

Puth added, “I fell in love with the song when I first heard it, and to be able to reimagine it with Gabby and the writers and producers and take it to a new place, is really exciting.”

This collaboration also marks Puth’s entrance into the country music world. Puth has been relatively quiet since the release of his 2018 album, Voicenotes, though he did work with Australian pop band 5 Seconds of Summer last year on their song “Easier,” which he later remixed.
