Eric Paslay returns with ‘Heartbeat Higher’ EP

His first new studio project in six years.

Eric Paslay has released his brand-new EP, Heartbeat Higher.

The four-track project features a duet with Sarah Buxton on the title track and a haunting cover of Mike Posner’s hit song “I Took a Pill in Ibiza.” Three of the EP cuts were co-written by Paslay.

“Making music is good for our souls,” the singer-songwriter said in a press statement. “And I know we all need a little good right now. Music is healing, it’s therapy, it transcends and allows us to escape. My hope is these new songs bring my fans some joy.”

A music video for “I Took a Pill in Ibiza” was also released. The clip captures a reflective Paslay roaming the streets of Amsterdam when on tour in Europe last year. He had previously shared visual treatments for the title track, which was shot in Sweden, and the romantic “On This Side of Heaven.”

Paslay’s latest EP is preceded by his 2019 live album, Live in Glasgow, which included his hit songs “Friday Night” and “Even if it Breaks Your Heart.” His last studio album was 2014’s Eric Paslay.
