Eric Church has put out a new song, “Monsters,” to tease his new album Desperate Man out next month.
Co-written by Church and his bandmate Jeff Hyde, this is the third single off the album, following “Desperate Man” and “Heart Like a Wheel.”
The track uses the image of a child afraid of monsters at bedtime to meditate on life’s real demons. Church’s signature poeticism is on full display here: “The wolf hunts a hungry man and the devil a lonely heart / A minefield of bad decisions lay hidin’ in the dark.”
