Chris Young, Kane Brown reunite on “Famous Friends”

The “Setting the Night on Fire” collaborators join forces again.

Tennesseans Chris Young and Kane Brown have reunited to recognize their hometown heroes on new single “Famous Friends.”

A compact country pop song, “Famous Friends” swiftly roars into life over a dance beat, guitars and ample catchy melodies written by Young, Cary Barlow and Corey Crowder back in 2018. The songwriting trio snuck in references to both Young’s hometown of Rutherford County and Hamilton County for Brown, as they pay their respects to the people they grew up with.

“Famous Friends” is just the latest release in the pair’s collaborative history: Brown co-wrote his song “Setting the Night on Fire” with Young and performed on his songwriting partner’s 2018 Losing Sleep world tour.

“This song is a piece of me, and it means a lot because it’s honest and it’s real life, Young said in a statement. “Plus, Kane and I are good friends, and being able to have that history together, it adds a whole other level to the track. ‘Famous Friends’ is one of my favorite songs—it’s personal and it’s a lot of fun, so I’m glad it’s getting out there for people to hear it.”

Their new song is set to appear on Young’s forthcoming studio album, though no official details have been shared just yet. Listen to “Famous Friends” here:
