Chris Stapleton has released “The Ballad of the Lonesome Cowboy,” a moving single for the soundtrack of the upcoming movie Toy Story 4.

Written by Grammy-winning singer-songwriter Randy Newman, who also wrote “You’ve Got a Friend In Me” from the original 1995 Toy Story, the tune features Stapleton singing over lush strings and tender piano chords. “I was a lonesome cowboy, but not anymore / I just found out what love is about / I’ve never felt this way before,” he croons.

“To me what has made the Toy Story films hold up over time has been the strength of the stories and the songs and the writing and the characters,” Stapleton said in a press release. “It’s a tremendous honor to get to sing a Randy Newman song in what is without question one of the most iconic animated franchises in history,” he added.

The Toy Story 4 soundtrack is due out June 21 on Walt Disney Records. The movie hits theaters on the same day.
