Carrie Underwood has given her fans “a little gift” this festive season by announcing an upcoming surprise gospel album titled My Savior.
In a video shared via social media, Underwood wished fans a “merry Christmas” and thanked them for their support for My Gift, her first holiday album which dropped in September. She then segued into the announcement of My Gift’s upcoming companion record.

“When I was making this music, I felt like my soul was in such a great place. I wanted to keep making music like the music off of My Gift,” said Underwood of the impetus behind the new record. “So I am here to give you guys a little gift right now and announce that I did that. I went ahead and made more music.”
Sharing more details about the album, she said: “I made an album called My Savior which is hopefully just a little companion to My Gift. This album is full of gospel hymns that I grew up singing.” She added: “Again, it’s just been such a blessing to make music like this, music that is near and dear to my heart. I hope you guys enjoy listening to it as much as I loved making it.”
Though she did not provide an exact release date, the singer confirmed that My Savior “will be coming to you just in time for Easter.” My Gift and its forthcoming companion are Underwood’s latest projects since her 2018 album, Cry Pretty. It would also not be the first time her religiosity has played a significant role in her work: she previously released faith-based chart-toppers “Jesus, Take the Wheel” and “Something in the Water,” and in May this year, she and her husband launched a short film series talking about their lives and faith.
