Cam announces new album with “Classic”

‘The Otherside’ arrives this October.

Cam has released a brand-new song, “Classic,” from her upcoming sophomore album.

Produced by Jack Antonoff (who’s worked with Taylor Swift, The Chicks and Lana Del Rey), the anthemic, feel-good tune is about a romance that transcends time. “They don’t make ’em like that anymore / Talkin’ down at the corner store / They shut their lights and they close their doors / ’Cause they don’t make ’em like that anymore / But you and I are classic,” Cam sings over breezy and vibrant country-pop production.

“Jack and I caught something in the air that day and ran with it. The track is so much fun,” the California native said in a press statement. “Jangling guitars, claps, it feels like when a group of familiar people get back together over the holidays, clanking around after dinner with too much wine, and amidst the chatter and laughter and closeness they are really telling each other, deep down, just how much they love each other.”

Additionally, Cam has also announced the release date and title of her second studio album, The Otherside. It’s her debut project since signing a joint label deal with RCA Records New York and Nashville’s Triple Tigers Records this year.

“This upcoming album is the best music I’ve ever made,” Cam said. “It deserves the best partner to take it out into the world—and that’s what I’m getting with Norbert [Nix] and the team at Triple Tigers. Their passion, drive and ingenuity are exactly what I was looking for. This is gonna be such a fun ride.”

The Otherside will include “Classic” as well as previously released songs “Till There’s Nothing Left,” “Diane” and “Redwood Tree.” Earlier this year, Cam was featured on the song “So Long” off Diplo’s country album, Diplo Presents Thomas Wesley Chapter 1: Snake Oil.

Cam’s last full studio album was her 2015 debut record, Untamed, which spawned the smash hit, “Burning House.”

The Otherside is due out October 30. While you wait for it, listen to “Classic” below:
