Blitzen Trapper celebrate tenth anniversary of ‘Furr’ with deluxe edition

The indie country rock outfit also share rare track, “Booksmart Baby.”

It’s been a decade since Blitzen Trapper released their breakthrough record, Furr. And to mark the occasion, the indie country rock band have announced an expanded edition of their 2008 album. The 13-track record features a updated cover art and 12 bonus songs, including “Booksmart Baby.”

The rare track, which the band previewed alongside the announcement, is a downtempo folk tune. It first appeared on the band’s limited-edition War is Placebo seven-inch, released in 2009. “Oh, my razor lake in time / Burnt hills, beautiful, and my, oh my,” frontman Eric Earley croons over a fingerpicking melody.

“[‘Booksmart Baby’ is] one of those weird haunting songs I wrote in the middle of the night in the telegraph building on the poppy couch,” Earley said in a press statement. “Those lyrics are like a riddle, I think.”

Furr: Deluxe Edition is due to arrive on September 14 via Sub Pop.
