Billy Ray Cyrus remixes Lil Nas X’s “Old Town Road”

The rapper gets the country star’s co-sign.

Atlanta rapper Lil Nas X has teamed up with country stalwart Billy Ray Cyrus for a remix of his viral trap-infused country record, “Old Town Road.”

The original song has been a hot topic of debate lately after it was dropped from the Hot Country charts on Billboard for not being sufficiently ‘country.’

“Upon further review, it was determined that ‘Old Town Road’ by Lil Nas X does not currently merit inclusion on Billboard’s country charts,” Billboard said in a statement to Rolling Stone. “When determining genres, a few factors are examined, but first and foremost is musical composition. While ‘Old Town Road’ incorporates references to country and cowboy imagery, it does not embrace enough elements of today’s country music to chart in its current version.”

Upon hearing the news, Cyrus voiced his support for the 19-year-old rapper on Twitter and even reached out to deliver his own verse on a remix of the record. And deliver, he did. “Baby’s got a habit, diamond rings and Fendi sports bras / Ridin’ down Rodeo in my Maserati sports car,” he sings.
